Film Screening: People, Not Numbers: John Zogby, Living Legend by Filmmaker Dennis Dewey
Filmmaker Dennis Dewey's latest documentary, People, Not Numbers: John Zogby, Living Legend, will be screened at the Utica Public Library on Tuesday, April 15 at 6:00pm in the Gallery.
This feature length film, produced for and premiered at the Oneida County History Center in October 2024, tells the dramatic story of John Zogby's life as the son of an undocumented immigrant from Lebanon and a politically savvy Lebanese mother, Zogby's experience growing up in East Utica, and his rise to international recognition as the pre-eminent political pollster of the late 20th and early 21st Centuries. Criticized by the "pollster class" for his methods and ridiculed for keeping his business in the "back water" of Upstate New York, Zogby displayed the uncanny habit of frustrating his critics by nearly always getting it right when the others stumbled. Zogby was named a "Living Legend" by the History Center in 2006.
John Zogby will be in attendance and will hold a Q&A session following the film.
